Description

Miniature epiphyte with stems up to 20mm. Leaves few or occasionally absent, linear to strap-shaped and unequally bilobed. Inflorescence lateral, one to several, hanging from below the leaves, up to 45 mm long. 5-15 flowers close to each other, which are white with a green anther cap. Previously allocated top the genus Mystacidium and Diaphananthe, before being recognised under the current genus name. 

Distribution in South Africa

 Mainly found in southern KwaZulu Natal and inland, as well as in Limpopo. Recently discovered in a forest near Wakkerstroom. Endemic.

Typical habitat

 Occasional in montane forest, in deep shade, often near the ground, from 1,200 to 1,800 m. 

Flowering Period

This species typically flowers between October and January.

 N/A.   

Conservation Status

Uncommon, but fortunately large portions of it's habitat is protected by private and state landowners, which should ensure survival.
