Acrolophia micrantha

Description

Robust terrestrial up to 600 mm tall. Leaves overlap and are up to 300 mm long. Inflorescence has up to 5 branches and carries many flowers. Petals and sepals are purplish-green to brown, with a white lip and the lip on the side lobes purplish. 

Distribution in South Africa

Found mostly near the coast, from the eastern coast of the Western Cape to the Eastern Cape. Endemic.

Typical habitat

Found near the coast from near sea level to 350m. 

Flowering Period

This species typically flowers between September to December.

N/A. Endemic to South Africa.

Status unknown.

All indigenous orchids are protected under South African legislation as well as CITES regulations.
